5 years ago today......

I went into the prep room with both parents. My dad's kidney's were failing and my mom was a perfect match.

I will never forget what I felt early that morning. Both in surgery at the same time....I was scared out of my mind.

Within hours of the surgery being over my dad was cracking jokes and starting to act like his old self. My mom was drugged up and hilarious. He had gained something and she had lost something. Their healing was very different. But the result was amazing. My dad got his life back and we were overjoyed!

Only God......

Only God could have let them meet in junior high and still be in love all these years later.

Only God......

I could write forever about all the provisions they received. It was not an easy road but the outcome has been nothing short of a miracle.

Today my entire family celebrates 5 years of health!!!!! "That female kidney" as my dad likes to call it, is doing so good and he is ALIVE! PRAISE GOD!

We lingered over the kitchen table this morning (dec 24) as we relived those days. Detail by detail. All the friends that arrived unexpectedly, all the prayers, all the phone calls. I told the stories of seeing them both right after it was all done. Dad in ICU and mom in a room. At the end dad said.."Well Praise the Lord"

Praise the Lord indeed. I needed both my parents back then just as much as I need them now. I thank the Lord for granting them good health. I am so thankful that my parents have not wasted the five years on empty worldly things. They have continued to serve, teach, lead, and grow in the Lord. Father has used them greatly for His kingdom. Amen and Amen

I will leave you with the passage of scripture that I claimed over my parents during the time leading up to the transplant.

Psalm 103

Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits—

who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,

who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.

He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel:

The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.

He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;

he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;

as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;

for he knows how we are formed,he remembers that we are dust.

As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field;

the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.

But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him,

and his righteousness with their children’s children—

with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.

The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.

Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.

Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will.

Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion.

Praise the LORD, O my soul.
