Two...

So, where were we??? Oh yes....Living Room/Sun Room......

My house is not really wide but long. Each room just opens into the next. This is my living room. The summer after I graduated from college I got my first teaching job and made my very first furniture purchase....my couch, chair with ottoman, accent chair and my mattress set. I felt like a true adult. ha! If you haven't noticed by now, you will see that I love different patterns and textures. The look is not for everyone but works with my personality!

another view.

my favorite part of my house is my see-through fire place. It brings me great joy to see/feel a fire in two rooms! 2 things I love...the fan is from Laura and she brought it back from China. i love it!

the 2nd love is my china girl painting. Most of you know this story but I bought her in Beijing, in the Forbidden City, from an art professor. All the student's work was out and I fell in love with this painting right away.

Here we are inside.....wow we all look soooooo different. we all had that long hair! ha! it was soooo cold. I made them stay out in it longer because I wanted to see everything. The next day we woke up to a snow covered Beijing!!!!!!!!! It was beautiful! We are now all spread out...Chels in Colorado, Laura- OKC, Amy- Hawaii, Me- Texas.

Anywho, all that to say.......I love the painting and so glad that I hauled it around China, got separated from it in San Fancicso, and reunited back at my parent's house in Sanger. ha-totally worth it!

this is the Hope Chest I was telling you about. My very first piece of furniture that was my very own! my Daddy Bob gave it to me! I love it!!!!

now I sit more in my big chair. I use one of the table chairs as a desk to hold my stuff. Those are my new pens I bought for Israel. I heart new school supplies.

My other mantel. This pic is bad but you can get the idea. I like to put my feet right by the fire on a super cold day! Oh i am so ready for cold weather!

and here is a close up of the humming bird carving I got in a village in Panama.
ok...a few more questions.
1. what is something we do NOT know about you??????
hhhhmmmmmmm.....I'll just list the first things that come to mind...
-that I am not a fan of animals. I mean, I love them but from a distance. I had a few bad/gross experiences at an early age so I'm just not that into them. Nothing personal.
-i'm left handed.
-I like to sit in my big fluffy chair and sing my way through the Baptist Hymnal...often. Singing to the Lord fills my soul. I end most of my Saturday mornings with some singing time. Sometimes the older hymns make me cry. Sometimes I start clapping my hands and do a high kick. Just depends on the day and what I learning.
-I love liquids. I drink a lot of water!
-I love nachos.
-I love ironing and starch. I just went an entire week without stark and I looked like a sh-lump. I have been ironing since I was little. It's like cutting the grass.....it looks like a mess and then it looks beautiful. Same thing with wrinkles. I guess i love a before and after........man, that could teach right there. We are big balls of overgrown, wrinkled chaos....then God comes in and cuts away the yuck and irons us out. Amen! ha!
-I often ask the Lord...."I want to be married but what do you do with a husband?" Weird I know. I guess i have a hard time understanding what daily life would be like having a man around. It seems so foreign to me. I mean, could i still sing and perform in the den? Can i still have my long quiet times on Saturday mornings? I'm silly, but sometimes I just can't seem to wrap my head around it! ha!
-i sing and perform, in my classroom, to songs on the radio. We listen to our local Christian station and I can't help myself sometimes. I would have been an AWESOME lip singer/performer! I will raise my hands and all kinds of stuff in class. They pretty much ignore me, smile or roll their eyes. I love it. I mean, how can you not get up and dance to Chris Tomlin's "Our God"...ha! But the more I sing the more they are calm. And like I have shared before.........they start learning the songs and then they start singing along with me. It is one of those VICTORY moments in my life. That is why I teach. It's not about the art or even the act of teaching creativity. It's about sharing the Gospel any way I can! He is good!
Ok, I have talked too much tonight on one question. I will answer the rest later. Since I was walking down memory lane with my friends...I thought I would leave you with a few more China pics. I so wish I had blogged back then!
Amy's mom sent us christmas pj's that christmas!
The Great Wall...this pic was also my first blog header.
Forbidden City

special times. secretly wish the girls could go to Israel with me. What fun we would have!
last but not least-- I found this old pic of my sister Dixie and I at the wedding of our dear friend Renee. This was taken right after my friend Corey told me what a blog was! I am so glad I have a pic from that night. She told me about blogging and as the words came out of her mouth I KNEW GOD WAS GOING TO ASK ME TO DO IT!!!! It has been a blessing ever since!
What a random post! ha! Have a great evening! My bedroom and guest rooms tour on another day!
love you!
