Current trend.........

Your not going to believe what is the big topic in art class the last two days! Well, maybe you will guess from the above pictures....but word on the street is...aka from the mouth of 14 year olds......that ABSTINENCE IS THE "IN" THING!!!!!!!!!

Can you please say "TO GOD BE THE GLORY" out loud right now!!!!!!!!


Is that not amazing! And this is out of the mouths of public school, B.E.T watching, and Future inspiring Rappers............GOD IS SO UP TO SOMETHING EXCELLENT!!!!!!

I could hardly wait to share with you what happened. I have several boys and girls sporting the rings and the conversation of what they mean comes up ALL THE TIME!!!!! But the last two days students have asked me deeper questions than just "what is abstinence". Yesterday a girl asked me to explain the "importance of waiting"............................I was like OH LORD YOU HAVE JUST OPENED UP AN OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So with great joy and excitement, because I am a huge fan of the True Love Waits movement, began to share with her........and the rest of the class because my voice is so loud....... how God created us and desires for us to be pure not only sexually but in all areas of life and then explained the covenant of marriage...all on a very elementary level so that it made sense. We talked on trusting God and then talked on how we all have issues but this is one that sticks on you (i used the common example of gluing two pieces of paper together and then trying to pull them apart........pieces of each remain). That example then brought up a guy asking about if "you can still be apart of true love waits if you hadn't waited".....OF COURSE I COULD HARDLY CONTROL MYSELF AT THIS POINT.....I WAS ALMOST ON THE TABLE talking about OUR GOD and HIS BEAUTIFUL ABILITY TO REDEEM US AND MAKE US WHITE AS SNOW!!!!!!!! IS GOD NOT AMAZING!!!!!!!


Today.....it was a completely different class with some of the very same questions. I did learn that apparently the Jonas brothers are TLW guys.....sadly i wasn't sure who they were..... but saving sex till your married is on the minds of my freshman students and I will address and answer any question that comes my way.

With that being said........here are a few statics of our very real world and teens having sex.

*Currently 46.8% of all high school students report they have had sexual intercourse. The percentage of high school students who have had sex decreased 13.3% between 1991 and 2005 (54% to 46.8%).


*Nationwide, 6.2% of high school students had had sexual intercourse for the first time before age 13. Overall, the prevalence of having had sexual intercourse before age 13 was higher among male (8.8%) than female (3.7%) students.


*The report by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy found that 18-19 percent of teens age 14 or younger have had sex and that only 30 percent of parents of sexually active 14-year-olds believe their child had engaged in sex.


*Approximately one in seven sexually active 14-year-olds reports having been pregnant.

I must say that this is the first year there have not been 5 or more pregnant 14 year old girls walking the halls at school! Praise God! I personally am excited to see that this movement is becoming the "in" thing in areas. I am not a parent, but I do teach freshman guys and girls everyday. I watch them in the halls, I see how they treat each other, how they act around the opposite sex.........how they act around the very kids that you have told them to stay away from. As a teacher, I want to say to all you parents out there.....TALK TO YOUR KIDS ABOUT SEX! Who cares if they stop breathing and pass out on you. 13 and 14 is not really little any more. I know you know this already but........................Pray for their purity. I even say go as far as praying for them to not be looked at in a lustful way by the opposite sex. That God would shut the eyes of others till it is HIS time! That God would surround them with strong youth groups that have made the commitment together. Pray and tell satan that he has no right to attack them with false self esteem issues and feeling left out IN JESUS NAME! Because he is working over-time on these students and his goal of leading them astray and destroying them happens more and more!!!!!!

I am so encouraged that several of my students have parents that are encouraging the TLW and even making a big deal out of it! I am already praying these things for my children and grandchildren. I hate sexual sin...HATE IT! I have watched it destroy more people than I even want to claim.......and at the same time I have seen the most beautiful, redeeming, purifying and forgiving goodness REST all over believers that have turned their eyes upon Jesus and have been made holy and pure! Oh how I want my children to be free of this one major sin.....Lord knows they will have so much other things to fight off!

Father I praise you for your opportunities these last few days to speak truth over these students. I LOUDLY PROCLAIM TO YOU TO MAKE THIS MOVEMENT HUGE THIS YEAR........FIRE IT BACK UP AND ALLOW IT TO CROSS ALL ETHNIC GROUPS, DENOMINATIONS, AND ECONOMIC STATUS! You are so up to something and i am sitting here ready to watch you move. Our purity is not just a rule you have made for us but something that keeps us protected and in your WILL! I pray that my dear blog readers would lift up the teens they know or don't know tonight. Father I ask that you would continue to bring up topics that are all about you in my class. Continue to protect us as we speak your name and your word. MOVE AMONG US and INCREASE THE DESIRE FOR PEOPLE TO BE PURE!!!!!!!!
