HE IS LIGHT
I am going to share the beginning of 1 John with you. This study has just blown me away lately. The intimacy that John got to have with Jesus fills my up with a holy jealousy!!!!!! I mean, the guy got to lean against the Father at the last supper....he leaned on Jesus...they got to touch him......I wish I had been there! Anyway, I am naturally an old testament lover but this bible study in the NT has increased more excitement in me lately.........
1 John 1......The Word of Life
"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete....."
i just shared the beginning with you because it blows me away sometimes that these stories are REAL! Does that seem crazy? But sometimes I am in the middle of reading God's word and I am like "SHUT UP..........they touched you Father, they spoke to you and picked your brain, and then got to minister with you..." I just get so excited about it sometimes! I mean if you can't get excited that we have fellowship with God AND his Son then you need to call me and let me get you pumped up!!!!!!!! WHAT A GIFT HE HAS GIVEN US........and its FREE!!!! AMEN AMEN!
Anyway, the part of 1 John that is ministering to me today is verses 5-10 ....
"This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives."
I don't know about you, but knowing that God sees light..even when it is pitch black and you can't see your own hand in front of your face....brings such comfort to me. HE IS ALWAYS LIGHT. Just like He is always......TRUTH...always LIFE GIVING.....always LOVE.
SOMETHING ABOUT 1 JOHN is JUST NEAR TO MY HEART TODAY. I love how it clearly says that if we walk in the light, as he is in the light....cause he is always going to be in the light....then we will have fellowship with Him and He will Purify us!!!!!!!!!!!!! The statement that Beth made was that because there is no darkness in God, there is not dysfunction in Him. He is always Just and always Faithful.....and when it seems dark to us...HE CAN ALWAYS SEE!
"Then Daniel praised the God of heaven and said: "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him. I thank and praise you, O God of my fathers: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king." Daniel 2
Father you know i am just yapping today, but i get so excited about you sometimes. I just love that you are not ever nor were you ever affected by anything evil. YOU MAKE US PURE BECAUSE YOU ARE PURE! You know what is ahead for us and it is not darkness to you!IT IS BRIGHT AS DAY! I pray that is HOPE for someone today! Praise for your Word. Thank you that you bring it to life and let it create these amazing pictures in my mind! I love you!
