Leaving Your Legacy

I have a project that my students do at the end of ever school year. It's called "Leaving Your Legacy". The project is based on them using all the skills taught over the year to create one last project that is about them. Each student receives a ceiling tile and the paper is glued to it for the up coming 8th graders to see. The project will stay with me the next coming year and then they come back and pick them up. It is my favorite project of the year and I really stress to them the importance of showing off all their talent. I want you to see some of the work that is coming out of these 9th graders.........5 words come to mind

If i was really tech savvy i would post this Nicole Nordeman song "Legacy" for you. But I don't know how. This is the song I play for them before the project begins.......i think it is just perfect...if you haven't heard it go listen somewhere....oh it is beautiful..........

I don't mind if you've got something nice to say about me

And I enjoy an accolade like the rest

You could take my picture and hang it in a gallery

Of all who's who and so-n-so's that used to be the best At such'n'such ... it wouldn't matter much

I won't lie, it feels alright to see your name in lights

We all need an 'Atta boy' or 'Atta girl'

But in the end I'd like to hang my hat on more besides

The temporary trappings of this world

I want to leave a legacy

How will they remember me? Did I choose to love?

Did I point to You enough To make a mark on things?

I want to leave an offering

A child of mercy and grace who blessed your name apologetically

And leave that kind of legacy

I don't have to look too far or too long awhile

To make a lengthy list of all that I enjoy

It's an accumulating trinket and a treasure pile

Where moth and rust, thieves and such will soon enough destroy
Not well traveled, not well read, not well-to-do or well bred

just want to hear instead, "Well Done" good and faithful one.........

This one above ^ is amazing and in Spanish to the right is the verse........" I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO GIVES ME STRENGTH".

Then when we are finished.....we glue them to the tile and put them up.....all the while praying that the grade before influences the grade behind to SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.

I just PRAISE THE LORD FOR THE STUDENTS THAT LOVE HIM SO DEARLY!!!!!!! FATHER I PRAISE YOU FOR MAKING ME PLAY THE CHRISTIAN RADIO ALL DAY EVERY DAY! I PRAISE YOU THAT THEY HEAR THE WORDS, START TO LOVE THE SONGS, AND THEN WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT YOU! this is all YOUR work Father. I have not done any of this.......YOU HAVE!!!!! Thank you for protecting me as I speak openly about my faith to others. Thank you for those hard questions........
