The Stories of Divine Appointed Friendships
I think we would all agree that this title of divine appointments that set up friendships, whether for a season or a lifetime, is something that many of us have had the privilege of encountering. An appointment meaning something that has been set in stone, time marked down, and written on the calendar....pre-planned. Divine meaning that this set appointment is something totally supernatural and never as effective or successful when planned by mere humans. A divine appointment of friendship. "All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:16. What boring lives we would lead if we only had the same friends our entire lives. Now don't miss interrupt what I am saying, I love old friends, but what joy it is to see and hear God ask us to befriend someone...or allow ourselves to be befriended because it is our assignment, because there is work he is doing, and because he trusts us enough to know we will obey! My calling as of now is in the encouragement/discipleship area with women. Some of you might relate with me when I say that I have had to learn to be able to let people go when he is finished using me in their life. That has always been the hardest part for me. However, I can never express to you the joy and excitement I feel when Father begins to reveal to me the next person he is going to bring into me life. I LOVE BEING USED BY GOD!!!!!!!! There was an Angela Thomas book I read where she asked " When was the last time you asked God if you could mow his grass?” I loved that question. Since I started asking him to give me work to do for him....he has flooded my way with friendships that are not based on likes, jobs, or really interests........just friendships based solely on him. Knowing him more and becoming a true disciple of him. What I find so great about divine appointed friendships is that it is never one sided. There is always work to be done in both people and both people end up blessing each other. I think all you blogger gals would understand what I am talking about. There is a small community that is set up here based on God showing us a certain page and reading a certain blog that ministers to us in such a personal way. Even inside this community we are able to encourage and uplift each other. No, we do not know each others voices or laughter, but we share in the sisterhood of Christ and to me there is no greater gift.
Well, I have a new divine appointed friend and our story that God is writing is pretty funny and totally awkward for both of us in the beginning. Oh, how I can already see him working over time. I will asker her tomorrow if I can share our story....but I share all this to say "Are we aware of God working?" Oh Father, thank you for forcing me out of my comfort zone to become friends with strangers. Thank you that you use us flaws and all. That when you have a good work to do through us for others, that you give us all that we need to accomplish that task. Let us never be afraid to ask you if we could mow your grass, because it is guaranteed that it is little us and a whole lot of you!!!! Make us so aware of you business around us! Praise you!
